John Denver is a popular singer and songwriter who has been able to touch many by his lyrics. A lot of them have roots in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. grew up in Roswell new Mexico, but was enthralled by Colorado. He eventually made his way to Aspen. Denver's popular songs about his home state inspired many visitors to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame states that John Denver is unlike any other artist who embodies Colorado. Denver, the Hall of Fames' first inductee, was honored with this honor in 2011. He has become the personification of Colorado for people all over. People you meet in other countries, like New Zealanders, and they tell them "I am originally from Colorado" and they immediately respond with "Oh John Denver. Brown declared. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist following a brief time in folk group comprised of Take Me Home Country Roads composed by Bill Danoff. Danoff had written the song inspired by Johnny Cash, but Denver discovered an early version and knew it was going to be an instant hit in the top 10. Danoff recorded the song just a few days following performing on stage in Washington D.C. before an audience that was very enthusiastic.
